1965 Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback

This beautiful 1965 Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback was ordered new in the color of Tropical Turquoise. It was built at the San Jose, CA plant on October 7, 1964 with the standard interior in White Crinkle Vinyl with Black Appointments. It is equipped with the 200 cid. 6 cylinder engine and Dagenham 4 speed transmission with a 3.30:1 rear end axle ratio.

The DSO (District Special Order) was Denver, CO and it was purchased new in Westminster, CO. Its second owner purchased it in 1982 and performed a bare metal repaint and general restoration.

The 1965 Ford Mustang 2+2 Fastback also sports the factory Rally Pac and dealer installed air conditioning. During restoration, the compressor was upgraded and recently it was converted over to R-134. Blows nice and cold.

All of the original sheet metal exists and is present with exception of a driver-side quarter panel that was dented, and so was replaced. I have a photo of car during restoration. Never any rust or rust repair. A nice, tight, original fastback.

Fastbacks were introduced on August 17th, 1964, so this car was built only 6 weeks into production. Early features true to this 1965 Ford Mustang include vinyl along inside rocker panel, squared off 64 sill plates, early door and window handles, carriage bolt bracket for spare tire hold down, threaded base wiper arm posts, and three wire heater motor.

According to the previous owner, the restoration included rebuilding of the engine and carburetor. Updates include a new radiator, interior upholstery, dash, door panels, handles and headliner. Recently installed new exhaust system.
